26/05/2009 - International Safety Award for Paris Smith

Hat-trick International Safety Award for Paris Smith LLP

South coast law firm Paris Smith LLP has won a third consecutive International Safety Award from one of the world’s leading health and safety advising bodies.

The British Safety Council (BSC) presented the prestigious award to the Southampton-based firm, which has 145 staff, at a winners’ banquet held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Practice director, Alan Cousins, said: “We appear to be the only law firm in the south to have received this accolade. It demonstrates that we practise what we preach to clients regarding health and safety, something that should be integral to all organisations. This is the third time we have been awarded it –so we’ve got the hat-trick.”

“We supplied a number of key documents relating to health and safety and had to demonstrate board level commitment, as well as details of significant advances for the qualifying year 2008,” explained Alan.

Senior Partner at Paris Smith, Nick Vaughan, added: “This is a powerful motivator, something which has been achieved thanks to the efforts and commitment of every member of staff, therefore we are justifiably proud.”

The International Safety Awards scheme recognises organisations that show a commitment to improving corporate health and safety. Mr Brian Nimick, the BSC Chief Executive said, ‘Many organisations world wide are understandably making health, safety and environmental management their top priority. Through achieving this award, Paris Smith is helping to make our vision of a healthy and safe working environment a reality’.

Other Southampton businesses have received the award in recent years including the national mapping agency Ordnance Survey, Associated British Prints, construction group Trant and civil engineering and building firm PT Contractors.
